Understanding The Barrier of Resistance
Let’s take a look at the wonderful world of resistance! As an energy sensitive, I’ve come to recognize all sorts of energies and let me tell you, resistance is one of the most fascinating, and sometimes stubborn, ones. Believe it or not, plenty of people come looking for healing or answers to questions but bring along a hefty dose of resistance. It’s like showing up to a dance class with both feet glued to the floor!
The Invisible Barrier
Resistance is that invisible wall we put up, making it tricky for new ideas and insights to reach us. It’s like trying to pour tea into a cup with a lid on … nothing gets through! Often, resistance comes from deeply ingrained beliefs that our ego clings to, protecting what we already know, even if it’s not doing us any favors.
In many ways, our beliefs are like that comfy old sweater with holes in it. We know it’s seen better days, but hey, it’s familiar and has been around for ages! But when we wrap ourselves up too tight in that “sweater” of beliefs, we can block out all the new, exciting possibilities.
How Resistance Sneaks In
Resistance has its bag of tricks:
The Subtle Kind: Sometimes, it’s just a quiet “hmm, maybe not” or a small flicker of doubt. No big deal, right?
The Bold Kind: Then there’s the kind that stomps in, arms crossed, saying, “Nope, not buying it.” This one loves finding reasons to stay right where we are!
In either case, resistance can put the brakes on healing. It’s like the energy says, “I want to heal… but only if you don’t shake things up too much.”
Enter the Ego: The Great Protector (and Occasional Saboteur)
Our ego’s job is to keep us feeling safe and solid in our identity. It loves routine, comfort zones, and that nice feeling of “I know exactly who I am!” But when we start exploring new paths or ideas, our ego sometimes throws up resistance to keep things just as they are … no surprises, thank you very much!
When I feel this resistance, I know it’s not my role to bulldoze through it. Instead, I try to shine a little light on it, inviting the person to get curious about what’s holding them back.
A Friendly Nudge Towards Awareness
When we can laugh a little and see our resistance for what it is, an attempt to keep us comfortable, it starts to loosen its grip. Sometimes, just acknowledging that it’s there is like letting a little air out of a too-tight balloon.
The truth is, resistance doesn’t need to be a big, bad wall we have to knock down. It’s more like a gate we can gently open by being curious, a little playful, and kind to ourselves.
Pendulum Questions for Resistance
Here are some simple pendulum questions to help uncover any underlying resistance. Let the pendulum guide you as you ask these yes/no questions:
Am I resisting change?
Am I being stubborn about …. (new spiritual practices, liking someone, allowing new information, *choose any topic)?
Do I hold beliefs that keep me feeling stuck?
Is there a specific area in my life where I am resisting growth?
Am I blocking myself from new possibilities?
Is my resistance tied to fear?
Do I feel safe letting go of old beliefs?
Am I open to new perspectives?
Is my resistance protecting me in some way?
Is it in my best interest to release this resistance now?
Take a deep breath, hold your pendulum, and ask each question with an open mind. Allow your answers to guide your next steps!
Embracing the Process
Healing is never about pushing or forcing change … it’s more like coaxing a shy cat out from under the couch! By honoring the part of us that’s a bit hesitant, we create a space where true transformation can happen on its timeline.
So, remember: resistance isn’t your enemy. It’s an invitation to take things slowly, to get curious, and to be a little kinder to yourself. After all, the real magic of healing happens when we’re ready, and when we bring a sense of openness and a dash of humor to the process.
Feeling stuck or noticing some resistance? Let’s work together to gently explore what’s holding you back. In a session, we’ll create a safe, welcoming space to uncover what’s needed to help you flow forward again. When you’re ready, I’m here to support you!
